Lesson 5 Another stop along the Silk Road

授课人:马婉义

         设计思路:教师先采取问答式对话的方式检查作业来展示新单词,然后采用两两对话,听读的活动来让学生感知语言,再通过操练和小组活动来强化巩固语言,最后在独立创作过程中应用语言。整个过程中,要给学生提供开口说英语和用英语表演的机会,意在培养学生在真实场景中运用英语的能力,,同时通过Pair-work group work培养学生合作意识和探究式的学习方法。让学生体验使用英语的成功感,并启发学生不断学习的内在动力。

    知识目标:1.学习并掌握本节课中出现的重点词汇和句型。

         3.了解敦煌

能力目标:1.能用自己的语言用本课所学到的知识介绍敦煌。

2.培养学生合作意识和探究式的学习方式。培养学生在真实场景中运用英语的能力。

情感目标:教育学生要热爱自然,热爱家乡,保护家乡,建设家乡。

教学重难点:

重点:1.简单了解敦煌。

            2.重点词汇 amazing   safe  be famous as/ for  fall off

难点:用自己的语言介绍家乡

  教学过程中

Greet Ss and present new words and phrases    

T: Good morning ,boys and girls!

Ss: Good morning, Miss Ma.

T: How are you today?

Ss; Fine / Great/Not very good…

T: Not very good? Why?

Ss: Because I’m tired .

T: Oh ,I know you are too tired to have a class. It doesn’t matter. I’ll tell you a piece of amazing news.--- We won’t have a class now and I’ll lead you to go on a trip to Dunhuang today.

Ss: Really?

T: Of course. But we must be back. forty minutes later. It’s just a joke. But we can visit Dunhuang by learning Lesson Five.   Do you remember the homework last night ---Surf the Internet and try to find some information about Dunhuang,?

Ss: Yes.

T: OK, Now let’s have a check .  Look at the screen ,what’s this

(在屏幕上展示莫高窟的图片并将英文名字呈现在图片上而且将这部分黑体的单词和短语板书并领读)

Ss: They are Mogao Caves.

T: Good. They are very famous . Do you know why?

S1: Because there are many famous paintings in Mogao Caves.

T: Great . So Mogao Caves are famous for  the beautiful paintings on the wall.

T: What’s this?

(在屏幕上展示鸣沙山的图片及英文名字)

Ss: It’s Mingsha Mountain.

T: Very good. It is a desert. And there are many deserts in Dunhuang, so Dunhuang is famous as 

the City of Sands.

T: Look at the screen again. What are the people doing?

Ss: They are riding camels.

T: Is it safe?

Ss: Yes /No.

T: Yes ,I agree with you. Sometimes, it is safe and people won’t fall off the camels. But sometimes, it is dangerous and people will fall off the camels and hurt them. (用把书从讲桌上掉下去的动作来展示‘fall off’ 的意思。)

(设计思路:为了激发学生的学习兴趣,通过创设情景,图片,示范动作等不同的教学方法形象直观的呈现重点词汇,既可以让学生轻松愉快地学习新词汇,也可加大课堂语言的输入量。)

【点评】授课教师对新单词的教学方法多样,而且不仅仅是停留在单词上,而是将单词融入句中,让学生整句理解。针对不同的单词采用不同的教学方法既激发了学生的学习兴趣,又形象直观地展示了单词和词组的意义及用法,既帮助了学生理解词义和句意,同时又渗透了学习方法。

Free-talk

T:  We have learned something about Dunhuang. And next ,I’ll give you two minutes to talk about it with your partner and then tell me what do you know about Dunhuang .

 (Two minutes later )

T: Stop here ,please. Now can you tell me something about Dunghuang?

S2:It is in Gansu Province.

T: Good answer.

S3.There are many deserts in Dunghuang , so it is famous as the city of sands.

T: Great .Anything else?

S4. There are many places of interest in Dunhuang.

T: Really? Can you tell us some of them.

S5: Yes. Such as Mogao Caves , Mingsha Mountain, and Yueyaquan .

  (设计思路:此环节通过Free-talk和师生间的问答旨在练习学生的听,说技能。同时通过听老师和同学讲,帮助中下学生以及学困生获取部分关于教材内容的信息,为后面的听力做一定的准备,降低听力难度。)

(点评:只有通过师生、生生间大量的语言交流,才能培养学生用英语交际的能力。课堂上的Free Talk是培养学生听说能力很有效的方式。同时通过老师和优等生的语言交流,帮助学困生通过听了解一定教材内容,这点体现了分层教育的理念。)

Listening

Listen and answer the questions.

T: We have learned a lot about Dunhuang, In order to learn more about it, let’s listen to the tape. Before listening , please look at the screen first . Here are some questions for you .

( 听力部分先给出问题然后让学生带着问题去听课文。 )

Question1.   Why do many people come to Mogao Caves?

Question 2.    Did Marco Polo come to Dunhuang a long time ago?

Question 3.    What did Danny want to do on the way to Mingsha Mountain?

T: Now let’s listen to the record and try to find the answers to the three questions.

T: All of you did great jobs. This time I will give you four to five minutes to read the lesson and then fill in the blanks .

The group arrives in Dunhuang. They take a tour around the city.

Li Ming: This is an _______trip.

Jenny: I can’t believe it! We are walking on the _______ road as Marco Polo.

Ms Martin: Yes ,Danny. Of course he did! Jenny:

Danny: Well, then I want to ride a camel ,too!

Camel man: Sure.

Danny: Is it______?

Danny: Are you sure? That camel is really tall.

 Danny: Yay! This is fun! Look at me. I’m Marco Polo!(在这部分,一个学生回答一个问题,学生每回答完一个问题之后将正确答案在空格处呈现出来)

( 在阅读部分采用对课文里的一些重点短语和重要知识点挖空,然后让学生根据阅读到的信息填空来锻炼学生对阅读材料中重要信息的掌握和阅读技能,而且对一些知识点和重要词组也起到加强记忆的功效。)

(设计意图:听,读是语言学习中最重要也是最基本的两个技能,此环节重在练习学生的听读技能,让学生在听读的过程中感知语言。通过听,读技能的练习,呈现本课的语言知识点,这是学生学教材的过程。)

Ss : No.

T: Very good. Now, this time there is a new task for you ---to be a tour guide in Dunhuang, four in a group and I ‘ll give you four minutes to prepare and then ask one student to introduce Dunhuang in front of our class.

T:Are you ready?  Who wants to have a try? OK, you please.

S8:

T: What do you think of her performance?

Ss: Great /Wonderful...

T: Yes, I agree with you. Because they usually work very hard , so I hope all of you can work harder from now, and I’m sure you can do better than them some day.

(设计思路:让学生四人一组组织自己的语言来介绍敦煌,旨在检测学生对所学内容的掌握情况和练习学生说的技能同时 。这是学生对所学语言输出的过程。)

(点评: 这个活动是本堂课的升华,任务的层次有所递进,表达的语言更加丰富,注重了口语应用,同时为下一步的教学活动做好准备。

T: We have visited Dunhuang. Maybe you are tired now, so do you want to listen to a song?

All of the students:Yes.

T: Do you know the song ---Tianheretu? What is it about and who sings it?

Ss: It is about Tianshui and Lvjihong sings it.

T: Yes, it is about our beautiful hometown, Tianshui. Now Let’s listen to the song to enjoy the beauty of our hometown and relax ourselves. If you can sing it, you can sing along with it.

(学生看着视频,边唱边拍着双手伴着节奏欣赏着家乡的美)

Homework

T: After listening to the song ,What do you think of our hometown ?

Ss: Very beautiful.

T: I agree with what you said, so today’s homework is to write a composition about our beautiful hometown .The title is My Beautiful Hometown.

设计思路:最后,我先让学生通过欣赏歌曲-天河热土来了解,欣赏,感受家乡的美,然后让同学们发挥创作来描述自己美丽的家乡,具有一定的开放性。这是整堂课的高潮部分,此时学生已脱离课本“用”教材了。)

课后反思:

我认为本节课的成功之处有:

1. 目标明确,重、难点把握准确,知识主线提炼精确。

2. 教学设计体现了“听说课”的教学模式,从复习热身、感知体验、强化巩固到语言应用,设计的思路清晰,步骤明确,体现了“层层递进”的教学原则。

3. 设计的流程遵循了学生的认知规律,由感知体验到语言应用,注重了知识获取,能力形成的学习过程。

4. 能够突出学生的主体地位,面向全体,每个学生有任务,且每个学生都有展示的机会。

5. 教学效果良好,学生参与面广,参与机会多,参与的积极性高涨,兴趣浓,知识与能力、过程与方法、情感态度价值观得到了很好的落实。

不足之处有:

1.课堂容量太大,时间太紧,很多学生没有展示自己学习效果的机会。

2.没有达到更深层次输入语言信息的目的。
